World Table Tennis Day 2026 Main Celebration Heads to India!
World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2026 is just one month away! The ITTF Foundation is excited to announce that this year’s main celebration event will take place in Kapadwanj, Gujarat, India, in collaboration with Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal (KKM) and the Dani Sports Foundation. On 23 April, this vibrant community will come together for a day of inclusive, engaging, and meaningful activities centred around this year’s theme of Health & Well-being, as well as celebrating 100 Years of Table Tennis.
From Community Development to Global Celebration
The WTTD 2026 main celebration will be organised by KKM, one of our TT4Change project partners, which leads the project “Smash Barriers: Every Table is a Playground”. Established in 1940 as an educational trust, KKM has expanded its mission over the years to include sport as a tool for development. Through our collaboration in the TT4Change programme, KKM has been working to integrate table tennis into community life, promoting inclusion, education, and social cohesion.

Active across three local communities in Kapadwanj, the project mainly aligns with UN SDG 10 – Reduced Inequalities. By creating accessible table tennis spaces in schools and community centres, it empowers individuals of all ages and backgrounds, while fostering essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. At its core, this initiative challenges social barriers, including gender stereotypes, and demonstrates how sport can drive meaningful, lasting change.
By bringing the WTTD 2026 main celebration to Kapadwanj, we are overjoyed to highlight their amazing work and showcase that table tennis is a powerful tool for improving both physical and mental well-being, and for strengthening communities. Speaking about the collaboration for the WTTD main event, ITTF Foundation Director Leandro Olvech said:
“Bringing World Table Tennis Day to Kapadwanj is a powerful reminder that table tennis can move people with different ages, genders, and abilities, in every sense. Through the work of KKM and the Dani Sports Foundation, we are looking forward to seeing how accessible and inclusive activities can strengthen communities and promote well-being for all.”
At the local level, the impact of this collaboration is deeply felt within the community. Dr. Harish Kundalia, President of Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal, shared:
“We are truly honored to be hosting the World Table Tennis Day 2026 Main Celebration in Kapadwanj in collaboration with the ITTF Foundation and Dani Sports Foundation. Over the past few years, we have seen how table tennis has brought children, families, and communities together in ways we had not imagined. This celebration is very special for us - it reflects the journey of our community, and we look forward to sharing how sport can create joy, connection, and a sense of belonging for everyone.”
From a partner perspective, Dani Sports Foundation also emphasized the broader vision and sustainability of the initiative. Cdr. Rajesh Rajagopalan, CEO, added:
“We are pleased to be partnering with the ITTF Foundation and Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal to host the World Table Tennis Day 2026 Main Celebration in India. This event builds on sustained work on the ground and reflects how table tennis can be used as a simple, powerful tool to promote inclusion, encourage movement, and improve overall well-being. We look forward to bringing together different stakeholders and showcasing a model that can be strengthened and adapted across other communities.”
