World Table Tennis Day 2025 Promoters Initiative Kicks Off with Engaging Introductory Workshop
The countdown to World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2025 is on, and the excitement is palpable as the number of registered events has already surpassed 200 worldwide! To keep the momentum going and kick off the WTTD 2025 Promoters initiative, we recently hosted an introductory workshop for this year’s passionate Promoters. Out of 32 Promoters, 26 joined us virtually for this kick-off session, which was filled with enthusiasm, anticipation, and a shared vision for making WTTD 2025 the most impactful celebration yet. The workshop provided a fantastic opportunity to connect, set expectations, and inspire one another as we gear up for the celebration.
The session was opened and led by TT4ALL Coordinator, Mayssa Bsaibes, and Social Impact Manager, Julia Tappendorf, taking the Promoters through a brief overview of WTTD, reflecting on past celebrations and the global impact the initiative has had over the last 10 years. The focus then shifted to the discussion on the role of WTTD 2025 Promoters and how they can bring their communities together through creative and inclusive table tennis events.
As this year’s theme remains Diversity and Inclusion, the key emphasis throughout this workshop focused on how table tennis can break down barriers and fosters welcoming environments for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and ages. With many new faces joining the Promoters initiative, we also shared inspiring examples from WTTD 2024, highlighting activities that championed inclusion and sparked conversations on how to take these efforts even further in 2025.
The Diversity and Inclusion Handbooks (Phase 1 and Phase 2) were introduced during the session, serving as valuable resources to guide Promoters in designing local initiatives that prioritise inclusivity. These Handbooks are dedicated not only to supporting Promoters to ensure their events are accessible and welcoming to all but also guiding anyone who looks to firstly understand and secondly enhance Diversity and Inclusion within their local sporting communities.
We also introduced communication guidelines and engagement strategies, equipping Promoters with tools to amplify their efforts and spread the word about WTTD 2025 within their networks and beyond. To further ignite excitement, we announced a Promoters contest aimed at boosting community registrations and making WTTD 2025 the most inclusive and engaging edition yet!
The workshop concluded with an engaging Q&A session, where Promoters showcased their enthusiasm by asking thoughtful questions. We provided answers and guidance for them to set their first steps in planning and implementing their events. The passion and dedication of our Promoters were truly inspiring and exciting, and we can’t wait to see the creativity, energy, and inclusivity they bring to their celebrations!
