A record-breaking year
WTTD 2026 reached an all-time high of 1,130 celebrations across 140 countries and territories, marking a 33.7% increase on last year and the highest number in WTTD history. 95% of celebrations (1,073) were linked to the Health & Well-being theme, engaging an estimated 407,153 participants worldwide, also an all-time high.
Celebrations reached across every age, gender and ability, with organisers focusing especially on children and youth (80.6%), women and girls (59.1%), people with disabilities (43.6%) and seniors (35.4%).

Asia led the way with 606 celebrations, followed by Europe (205), Africa (158), the Americas (146) and Oceania (15). And we warmly welcomed Kiribati as a new WTTD celebrating country.
One number tells a story of its own: 60.4% of celebrations were organised by people returning from previous years, alongside 447 brand-new organisers. WTTD is no longer only about attracting new people; it is about communities coming back, year after year, to build a long-term and expanding movement.

Main celebration in Kapadwanj, India
The WTTD 2026 Main Celebration came alive in Kapadwanj, India, hosted with the local support of Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal (KKM) and the Dani Sports Foundation and preceded on 22 April by a visit to one of the TT4Change project "Smash Barriers" communities.

Around 400 participants joined a vibrant day of community exhibitions, cultural performances, fun table tennis activities, and exciting showcase matches. ITTF and ITTF Foundation President Petra Sörling, ITTF Foundation Governing Board member Vita Dani, Indian icon and ITTF Foundation Ambassador Sharath Kamal, table tennis legend Peter Karlsson, and table tennis influencer Adam Bobrow joined the local community to show how table tennis can move people, connect generations and bring joy and Health to life.

Promoters leading the way
This year, the ITTF Foundation selected 32 WTTD Promoters from 132 applications, representing 22 countries and territories across five continents. Supported through capacity building, workshops and financial support, they turned WTTD into moments of inclusion, health and community development.

Together, Promoter-led celebrations moved 5,049 people, involved 313 volunteers, and introduced 2,476 people to table tennis for the very first time. Just as importantly, every single Promoter plans to continue their initiative beyond 23 April. Their stories, their voices and the creative ways they brought communities together through table tennis are all featured in the Report. Find out more!

ITTF Member Associations set a new record
WTTD 2026 saw a record 88 ITTF Member Associations celebrate with us, the highest level of Member Association engagement ever. From New Zealand's nationwide "Have-A-Go for Brain Health" initiative to Peru bringing table tennis into public parks, the Maldives celebrating across three cities and Pakistan hosting in more than ten locations, national federations are turning WTTD into lasting pathways for healthier, more connected communities.

China's main celebration in Guiyang filled a public square with 100 tables for the "Hundred Tables, Thousand Players" challenge, bringing together more than 1,000 people aged 7 to 77. And in London, the newly renovated Greenhouse Sports Centre, which is a former church in the city where the first ITTF World Championships were held 100 years ago, kept the WTTD spirit alive on 27 April, on the eve of the ITTF World Team Championships Finals.

Spinsight: technology that got the world moving
As Global Main Sponsor of WTTD 2026, Spinsight helped bring the celebration to life from local halls to the Main Celebration stage. Combining table tennis, technology and Health & Well-being through its real-time analysis system, Spinsight made the game more engaging and motivating for players of every level.

Spinsight equipped our 32 Promoters with kits to use the app during their local celebrations and joined the workshop to show how it could be used on the day. In Kapadwanj, the Spinsight interactive booth gave participants the chance to experience table tennis through technology and discover new ways to play, engage and connect.
From local celebrations to the main event, Spinsight added a smart new layer to WTTD 2026, turning play into interaction, movement into insight, and table tennis into an even more engaging experience for communities worldwide.

Beyond the Day: the Health & Well-being journey continues
Our work to promote Health & Well-being does not stop on 23 April. Through our third consecutive year of collaboration with Pongmasters, 92 new table tennis table locations and 115 reviews were mapped worldwide between 1 April and 1 May, making the sport easier to find and more accessible for everyone.
The Table Tennis for Health & Well-being Handbook helped organisers turn table tennis into simple, meaningful health activities through four dimensions: MOVE, THINK, FEEL and CONNECT. Promoters and event organisers integrated 30 handbook activities into their celebrations. 87.7% of participants said WTTD positively impacted their health or well-being, and 93.7% said they are likely to keep playing table tennis for their health.

Handbook Phase 2 will be released in September 2026, featuring practical tools, activity ideas and real-life examples from WTTD 2026 celebrations around the world.
Looking Ahead to WTTD 2027
As we celebrate the Centenary of our sport, WTTD 2026 was also a moment to honour 100 years of table tennis and look ahead to the next hundred years of movement, connection and community.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to every organiser, Promoter, volunteer, Member Association and participant around the world; to Kapadwanj Kelavani Mandal (KKM) for hosting our Main Celebration; and to our Global Main Sponsor Spinsight, whose support and innovation helped move communities.
The journey continues. In 2027, the legacy of Health & Well-being carries on: more tables opened, more spaces created, more communities moving together.
Let's keep moving and let Table Tennis Move You.
