Table Tennis for Health & Well-Being Handbook Launched: Playing for Health around ONE Table
The ITTF Foundation proudly launches the Table Tennis for Health & Well-Being Handbook, created in collaboration with the University of Applied Sciences Kufstein. This new resource is designed to support event organisers, communities, and partners around the world in using table tennis to promote health and well-being on 23 April and beyond.
Developed for World Table Tennis Day (WTTD) 2026 and 2027, under the theme of Health & Well-being, the handbook combines conceptual insights with practical tools and guidance to help organisers integrate health-focused activities into their celebrations and beyond. Through this initiative, communities everywhere are invited to experience how table tennis can contribute to a healthier, more active, and more connected society.
Promoting Health Through Table Tennis
The theme of Health & Well-Being for WTTD 2026 and 2027 highlights our commitment to advancing UN Sustainable Development Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being over the coming years. Serving as a practical guide for WTTD celebrations worldwide, the handbook highlights how table tennis supports and provides value on well-being across four key dimensions:
- Move (Physical) – improving balance, coordination, and cardiovascular health
- Think (Cognitive) – sharpening focus, memory, and reaction time
- Feel (Emotional) – reducing stress and building confidence
- Connect (Social) – strengthening relationships and reducing loneliness

These dimensions demonstrate how table tennis can act as an accessible and inclusive tool for holistic well-being. Building on these concepts, the handbook presents a variety of creative games, exercises, and activity ideas to inspire organisers in planning engaging events that bring the health benefits of table tennis to life.
A Practical Guide for WTTD Organisers
The practical components of the handbook are designed for WTTD Promoters, community organisers, coaches, health professionals, ITTF Member Associations, and anyone interested in hosting an event. It offers accessible guidance for designing impactful celebrations and developing long-term, health-focused table tennis activities. This part of the handbook also provides structured and adaptable recommendations that can be applied across different cultural and community contexts.

From identifying local health challenges to creating engaging activities that encourage physical movement and social connection, the handbook comprehensively supports organisers in organising celebrations that respond to the real needs of their communities.
Turning Celebration into Lasting Impact
Beyond a one-day event, the handbook encourages organisers to view World Table Tennis Day as a starting point for ongoing community engagement around health and well-being.
It introduces a clear step-by-step framework to support organisers before, during, and after their celebrations, including planning activities, engaging participants, collecting feedback, and building partnerships. By doing so, World Table Tennis Day can become a sustainable platform that encourages regular physical activity and stronger community connections.

To support this process, the handbook features a wide range of practical group activities and inclusive games designed for community festivals and events. These activities encourage movement, cognitive stimulation, emotional well-being, and social interaction through fun and accessible table tennis-based exercises.
Explore the Handbook, Let Table Tennis Move Us All
The Table Tennis for Health & Well-Being Handbook marks an important step in strengthening the global impact of World Table Tennis Day by equipping organisers with the tools to create meaningful and lasting change.
As we approach 23 April, the ITTF Foundation invites table tennis lovers, clubs, schools, health institutions, and community leaders around the world to explore the handbook and bring its ideas into every local celebration.
Let’s harness the power of table tennis to move, think, feel, and connect, showing the world how our sport can help build a healthier, happier, and more active world.
