Happy World Table Tennis Day

Celebrating the 7th edition of the World Table Tennis Day today, the ITTF Foundation is bringing you a 24-hour of exciting online events to make April 6th a day to remember.

After a year bouncing between Covid-19 lockdowns and the ease up of regulations, the world slowly finds a new norm - one that is based on social distancing, facetiming, and falling asleep to yet another Netflix series. We could all agree that some excitement in addition to effective vaccinations is what we need to stay positive during this time of uncertainty. As World Table Tennis Day is upon us, 229 events across 62 countries have come together, inviting you to a day of actions and celebration of solidarity, whenever you are, wherever you are.

Meet your Ping-Pong heroes, re-watch historical matches and learn from the pros… these are just a few things we have for you in our World Table Tennis Day 2021 celebrations!

Smashing Gender Inequality with World Table Tennis Day 2021

Covid-19 has affected all of us, some more than the others. For this year’s World Table Tennis Day, we draw special attention to gender equality with our FEMpowerment campaign. Data shows increase of violence against women and girls, particularly in domestic violence since the pandemic started. As the saying “leave no one behind” goes, join our World Table Tennis Day 2021 celebrations to empower women and girls from your community! Bring them along to play table tennis and support their participation and involvement!

Win the T-shirt signed by Tomokazu Harimoto by showing your support

For those of you looking for that extraordinary move to make your FEMpowerment photo submission special, Tomokazu Harimoto would be your go-to. As the youngest player to win the ITTF World Tour Grand Finals in 2018 and the recent winner of the WTT Star Contender Doha, the Japanese table tennis player is the rising star in the world of Ping-Pong.

To show your support in combating gender inequality, share a photo making the “powerful pose” 💪🏽 in your social media with the hashtags #FEMpowerment and #WorldTableTennisDay. The T-shirt signed by the young star could be yours!
