DBF alum Tanjun Associate LLP Receives Olympism365 Innovation Hub Grant!

The ITTF Foundation proudly celebrates a new milestone achieved by one of our Dream Building Fund (DBF) 2021 alumni, Tanjun Associate LLP. This dedicated organisation has been selected as a recipient of the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) Olympism365 Innovation Hub grant, a significant boost for its ongoing journey of using table tennis  for sustainable development beyond the completion of its DBF cycle.

The Olympism365 initiative, through its Enterprise365 programme, supports nine social enterprises worldwide that leverage sport for social impact. With this new grant, Tanjun Associate LLP will expand their efforts and continue to foster positive impact on the environment and communities from 2024 to 2026.

Fighting against climate change and empowering communities

Tanjun’s work is a beacon of innovation in combining sport, climate action, and social empowerment. Through their DBF project, "Table Tennis for Early-Life Socio-Ecological Responsibility", Tanjun conducted environmental education workshops alongside table tennis training, promoted sustainable agroforestry practices, trained community coaches , and empowered youth with with innovative environmental solutions. These initiatives not only promoted the engagement of the communities into the sport and eco-friendly actions but also addressed key sustainability challenges in the Himalayan state of Uttarakhand, where climate change poses a dire threat.

New Horizons with Olympism365

Now with the Olympism365 fund, Tanjun is set to take their vision further through the Enterprise365 programme. Their plans include:

  • Upskilling Marginalised Women: Training rural women to produce sustainable sports equipment, creating economic opportunities in underserved areas.
  • Advancing Climate Education: Implementing sport-for-development programmes that teach climate solutions in schools, cultivating a new generation of eco-conscious leaders.
  • Promoting a Circular Economy: Supporting the Indian sports equipment industry in adopting sustainable practices.

As Tanjun’s project leader, Rekha Dey, aptly stated, this is an opportunity to bring their innovative solutions to the global stage while continuing to empower women and communities through sustainable practices and sport.

A Legacy of Change

Tanjun Associate LLP’s dedication and success have showcased the lasting impact of the Dream Building Fund programme and shared commitment to using table tennis as a tool for positive social change. We are immensely proud of Tanjun’s achievements and congratulate all other great selected organisations and remain committed to supporting initiatives that drive sustainable social development through the power of sport. We extend our best wishes to Tanjun and all the grantees on their journeys ahead and look forward to seeing more incredible milestones they will achieve in the future.
