Call for volunteers: help bring the NeuroPong™ Handbook to Spanish, French, and Arabic readers

The ITTF Foundation is looking for volunteers with InDesign skills to help us complete the French, Spanish and Arabic editions of the NeuroPong™ Handbook. The translations are ready. Now we need your help to turn them into finished, well-organised layouts. If you are interested in helping with one or more languages, please contact us at info@foundation.ittf.com

Released at the 2024 World Table Tennis for Health Congress, the NeuroPong™ Handbook is a collaboration between the ITTF Foundation and Table Tennis Connections. It offers coaches, caregivers and people living with Parkinson's, Dementia and Multiple Sclerosis both scientific background and practical guidance on how table tennis can improve quality of life, including a video collection of warm-up exercises and basic skills, and the personal stories of NeuroPong™ participants.

Since its release, the handbook has been available in English only (explore the NeuroPong™ Handbook). To reach more communities around the world, we have had the full text translated into French, Spanish and Arabic, thanks to LB-Translations. What we are missing is the capacity to bring these translations into the final layout, and that is where you come in!

What the task involves

This is not a redesign. The English edition already exists as a complete InDesign document, and the translated text is ready. Volunteers will place the translated text and materials into InDesign, using the English version as a reference and adjusting where needed so that everything flows well and is clearly organised. Depending on the language, this may include adapting text boxes to fit longer or shorter passages and, for the Arabic edition, working with a right-to-left layout.

We are looking for one volunteer per language, or one person who can cover more than one. If you meet the following requirements and have the time, we would love to hear from you:

  • Access to your own licensed Adobe InDesign software (the ITTF Foundation is not able to provide software or licences)
  • Basic InDesign skills – enough to place and format text, manage the layout and export a finished document
  • Good reading proficiency in French, Spanish or Arabic, so you can make sure the text sits correctly on the page
  • Care for detail and the reliability to see the project through

What we offer in return

As a thank you for your voluntary work, you will receive:

  • Credit as a contributor in the published edition
  • A volunteer certificate, plus acknowledgement in our website and on our social media channels

If you are interested, please reach out to us at info@foundation.ittf.com and let us know which language(s) you can help with. We look forward to hearing from you!
