A Sneak Peek into World Table Tennis Day 2022

A 24-hour online stream, 158 celebration events (and counting) across five continents... World Table Tennis Day 2022 (WTTD 2022) is fast approaching, and we are excited to share with you our plans for April 6.

Having had great success with the WTTD 2021 stream last year, the worldwide table tennis family is once again invited to celebrate WTTD 2022 on April 6 with a 24-hour online stream. Organised by the ITTF Foundation, we have ensured that there is something for everyone.

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Ping Pong Diplomacy, WTTD 2022 shines the light on the power of table tennis to build friendships, create dialogue and make peace. Expert Talks and Panel Discussions on how sport can be used as a tool for peace-making, how to deal with bias and discriminations in daily lives, as well as understanding and supporting the resilience of the refugees are not only relevant for us all but have become more important under the current political turmoil.

Thanks to the support of our dedicated Promoters and local ITTF Member Associations, the 24-hour online stream features events in Tahiti, Fiji, Yemen, Lebanon, North Macedonia (co-host with Kosovo), Nigeria, the USA, and Ecuador, all aim to demonstrate the power of table tennis in peace-making and conflict resolution.

Star players Wang Manyu, Lin Gaoyun, and Kanak Jha will be reuniting with each other again to chat with their fans after their epic partnership in the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships Finals. Table tennis celebrity Adam Bobrow with be sharing the fun stories of using table tennis to make friends as he travels around the world over the years.

Table tennis fans will have the chance to rewatch the two Koreas playing side by side in the 2018 World Championships in Halmstad, Sweden, as well as key matches in the 2011 Qatar Peace & Sport Cup where the US paired up with Russia, and China with Qatar. While history should be commemorated, the new legacy should also be celebrated. The last matches of the US-China mixed doubles in the 2021 World Table Tennis Championships Finals against Harimoto Tomokazu/Hayata Hina and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran/Manika Batra are sure to get you hyped this April 6.
